Why Double Cleansing is Essential

Double cleansing as the name implies, simply means cleansing your face twice. You may be wondering, why do I have to cleanse twice? Your face is the most exposed part of your body and single cleansing is not enough to get rid of the makeup, sunscreen, sweat, dust and dirt on your face. Double cleansing also helps to regulate oil production and prevent pores from getting clogged with dirt. If now you’re wondering how to start, here’s what to do:

Step 1- Every night, start with an oil-based cleanser like Coco Oil to remove oil buildup from sunscreen and makeup. Use clean, dry hands to apply and gently massage Coco Oil unto dry face with small circular motions for about 30 seconds.

Step 2- Lightly wet fingertips to emulsify the oil then continue massaging for another 30 seconds. Rinse off using warm water or a warm cleansing cloth.

Step 3- Go for a second cleanse with a water-based cleanser to remove water-based impurities like dried sweat and dirt, and to add essential minerals to your skin. Apply a pea-sized amount of a soap like Onyx Polish and gently massage unto your face with small circular motions again for about 30 seconds. Rinse off with warm water and pat dry with a clean towel or cloth, or allow your face to air dry.

Step 4- Follow with moisturiser or oil such as Glow Oil for perfectly balanced and moisturised skin.

Remember that most makeup and sunscreen products are made to be long-lasting and waterproof or water-resistant so you need something that will dissolve these products and lift them off your skin at the end of each day. A face wipe or wash will not do this for you so take the extra step and enjoy the process. Your skin will thank you because deep cleansing helps increase collagen which is responsible for skin elasticity and a youthful appearance.
